Rental Policies


We understand plans change for a variety of reasons.  Trip cancellations and interruptions happen.  Rent This Rod will refund your rental fees, minus the cost of e-commerce transaction fees (roughly 6% of the total amount) if you need to cancel your rental reservations up to 1 month prior to your rental start date.  Cancellations within 1 month of your rental start date cannot be refunded but instead will be honored with a 100% credit of any amount paid, toward a future rental.

Broken/Lost Equipment

You, as the renter, are completely responsible for our gear from the time it arrives at your house, until the time you return-ship it to us.  As such, we ask that you treat your rental gear as if you owned it.  Please use common sense when it comes to the proper usage and care of your rented gear.  For example, rinse our reels off daily, especially after a long day of use in saltwater environments; don't set reels down in sand; don't haphazardly shove our fly rods into storage holders in boats or skiffs; don't pole-vault with your fly rod; don't practice the art of fencing with your rented fly rod; etc.

Our damage/breakage fee is straightforward and fair - $200 per any broken rod or $100 reel.  This factors in the amount of time the equipment will be out of our inventory and getting repaired.

Lost or stolen equipment, if other than in transit to/from you, will incur replacement costs equal to the wholesale value of the equipment lost.
